Students use Fitness Campaign to help ERD Fight Malaria

(5/28/2008) When Presiding Bishop Katherine Jefferts Schori visited St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s School on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in New York City to bless their greenhouse in January 2008, she inadvertently planted the seeds for a very successful fundraising campaign on behalf of Episcopal Relief and Development’s malaria prevention initiative, NetsforLife®.    Read more.

Ladies of the Church

At our Mother’s Day Brunch, you received a short questionnaire to complete. The information we will garner with this questionnaire will help us create programs and events for both women of the church and the full church itself. If you have not completed one, please do so and mail it to the Chapel (PO Box 2, Magnolia Springs, AL 36555). If you need a new questionnaire or did not receive one originally, please check with Donna. Thank you!

Music Update

Several folks have asked about compiling a booklet of hymns and praise songs that are not in our hymnal. That’s a good idea! If you would like to contribute a favorite, please pass it on to Dan or Donna. Our "first edition" will contain twelve to fifteen selections. We are looking for singable tunes, good content, and spiritual themes (no campfire ditties!) For songs not in the public domain, we will obtain permission to use from the publisher.

Second Sundays Continue

In May the timing of the Second Sunday dinners have been left up to each group (predominantly because of Mothers’ Day on what would have been Second Sunday). In June, we will plan on all groups gathering on the Second Sunday of the month (June 8). If you’re not already signed up for this wonderful endeavor, see the Rector or Lisa. Join in!

United Thank Offering Ingathering

St. Paul’s annual United Thank Offering (UTO) Ingathering will be May 18. Before our Ingathering, please count your own offering from your UTO box, write a check for the equivalent amount made payable to St. Paul’s Chapel, marked UTO in the memo space. Place the check in a UTO offering envelope (found in your pews, the tract rack, and in the Parish Hall). The Episcopal Church and the UTO support the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG.) These goals are concerted efforts to fight global abject poverty and disease, and all the ills that stem from them.
